Amy Gutmann Hall Facade

The Amy Gutmann Hall is a new hub for data science and AI at the University of Pennsylvania. Matsys worked with Lake | Flato Architects to design a high performance facade that reduces the building's energy consumption by nearly 20%. The compbination of highperformance windows paired with a digitally printed ceramic frit pattern on th glass greatly reduces heat gain while still providing views out to the sourrounding camps and city. The facade is composed of over 600 glass panels, each with a unique digital frit pattern. The pattern was designed to resonate with both nature and technology with no section of the pattern ever repeating, and able to adapt to multiple performance needs across the facade.
